About the House
The House moved to its current site in 1882. The building was purpose-built and paid for by the Housemaster at the time, W G Michell, who sold it to the School on his retirement. Notable old boys include Dick Seaman, winner of the 1936 German Grand Prix, Robert Hardy and AN Wilson.

Michell House is built around a quad used by all years for various games throughout the year. Each year group has its own common room; there are snooker and table football rooms, a table tennis table and a piano practice room, available to all the boys.

Housemaster

T. J. Day

Tim Day was educated at Rugby (Town House 1983-88) before reading Classics at the University of Liverpool and training as a teacher at the Universty of Nottingham. Tim taught at Norwich School for 13 years where he was Housemaster of a day house and Head of Cricket. Tim met his wife Lucy at Norwich School's sports day; they have three children, Alice, James and Theo.

Tim moved to Rugby in 2006 as a teacher of Classics before taking up residence in Whitelaw House as Assistant Housemaster in 2007. Outside the classroom, he is an active all-round schoolmaster. He coaches U16A rugby and U15A cricket as well as helping to lead the army section of the CCF and producing comic sketches for the Arts Festival.

A lifelong prop forward, Tim still manages the occasional game for Rugby Welsh RFC, while his other major interest is record collecting, particularly 60s singles. Tim moved to Michell in 2009.
