Griffin House is the newest boarding House and its opening completed the programme of full co-education at the School which began in 1992. The first seven Griffin girls arrived in September 2003 and the House was officially opened in September 2005. It is now firmly established in the life of Rugby School.
Griffin House derives its name from the three Griffin heads that appear on the Rugby School coat of arms. Griffin is a development of the old Southfield building and combines modernity with homely comfort. The dining room opens through French windows onto a courtyard, there is a large, secure private garden, and the House is situated next to the Sports Centre. There are 45 girls in the House in all age groups, including girls new to the School at Sixth Form level.
Mrs A. Naylor
The Housemistress Anne Naylor came to Rugby from the Dragon School in Oxford in 1999. She has a degree in Music from the University of York, and a PGCE in Music and Drama. She taught Music and History at a York comprehensive school for 13 years where she was Head of History. She loves to be fully involved with School Music and Drama events, helped to produce the House Plays at Stanley (Sixth Form girls) and Marshall House (junior Department), and now masterminds the annual School Arts Festival. Singing in the Chapel Choir is a joy, and though she would love to start tap-dancing lessons again, progress has been a struggle!
Anne is married to Adam who has taught English at the School since 1994 and is much involved with Boys' Squash and Cricket. Three of their five children are currently at Rugby.
