Performing Arts
Each year there is a major School play and School musical; recent productions include:
Salomé, Delusions of Grandeur, Much Ado about Nothing, West Side Story, Dido and Aeneas and
We will Rock You.
At various points throughout the year, there are junior musicals, LXX (Year 12) and XX (Year 13) productions, Classics plays and even productions put on in the local young offenders unit as part of our community service programme.
Pupils who are keen to improve their acting ability can join the Drama Club which meets once a week.
In addition to the above, during the Lent term we have the House play season, where each of the Houses has the opportunity to produce their own play. Plays are usually directed and managed by the pupils, with parents and friends being invited to the single performance.
The year culminates with our Arts Festival where the whole School comes ‘off timetable’. The
Rugby School Arts Festival has become one of the major milestones in the performing arts calendar. Now in its third year, it brings together an exciting mix of exclusive events, from intimate encounters to large-scale extravaganzas, performance workshops, special one-off concerts and hours of entertainment.
