Open Days for Sixth Form entries are held in the summer and autumn terms prior to the entry exams in November.
Offers of places at 16+ are conditional upon a candidate obtaining satisfactory grades at GCSE or the equivalent foreign examination. In the case of UK candidates, the minimum will be at least five B grades (in the subjects chosen for A Level if applicable) at GCSE. Places are allocated on merit. Academic attainment and potential are considered along with the contribution that boys and girls can make to extra-curricular activities.
The majority of places will be offered as a result of the Sixth Form Entrance Examination and a House interview. These are held in early November of the year preceding entry. A number of candidates will be invited to return to the School for Scholarship interviews. Overseas candidates are also required to come to Rugby for the 16+ Examination and interviews in the November preceding entry.
At the preliminary visit/Open Day parents are given forms to complete should they decide to make a firm application. Before this application can be accepted, the Head Teacher of their sons/daughter's present school must be informed.
Girls’ entry: The majority of new Year 12 places are available in Stanley, but a limited number of places may become available in the other girls' boarding Houses and day House.
Boys’ entry: There are usually a few places in Year 12 for new boys (boarders and day).
After places have been offered for entry to the School, we will still consider later applications. Such candidates should complete the Waiting List Registration Form and will be considered for places should they become available.
