11+ Entry
Day Pupils only
Admission at 11+ is open only to day boys and girls from maintained schools and independent schools that finish at 11+. Admission from preparatory schools that continue to 13+ is permitted only if the pupil is moving into the Rugby area or with the express permission of a local prep school head before registration. All pupils join Marshall House, a small day house for Year 7 and 8 pupils. Applications are made to the Registrar preferably before Christmas of the year preceding the intended entry. The entrance tests consist of a computerised entrance test which is held in January at Rugby School, an interview and a report from the current school. Candidates for the Foundation Scholarship also sit a general paper (for details see Scholarships section). Members of Marshall House qualify for entry to the main School at 13+ without sitting a further examination. Marshall House pupils usually progress to the day Houses, Town House and Southfield, but it is possible to progress to a boarding House, provided a place has been reserved in the chosen House prior to entry.
We encourage candidates to spend a morning in Marshall House prior to the entrance tests. We recommend that this is booked as soon as possible in the autumn of Year Six.
